Your boss waits for the report, so the report is ready by Friday. The school waits for the fees, so the fees are paid in January. Nobody waits for your own plan, so your own plan moves to next year, and then the year after.

That is how a plan from January sits untouched by March. Over the years the cost grows bigger than one plan. You start to feel that your life belongs to everyone except you, and you quietly decide the problem is you.

Dr. Job Mogire founded House of Mastery. He grew up in Sengera, in Kisii. In April 2015, already a doctor, he spent one last night in the grass-thatched hut he had lived in through school. That night he decided to live by intention, one day at a time.

He practised medicine in Kenya for eight years before his training in the US, at the University of Kansas and the University of Oklahoma. He is now a cardiologist at Carle in Illinois.
