A Mirror

Read each question slowly. Sit with it before writing. These are not questions to answer quickly.

Question 1

Look at your calendar for this week. Count the events. Then ask: where in this week is the space in which a moment could happen? Not a scheduled moment, an unscheduled one. Where is the porosity?

Question 2

Think of the last time you were genuinely present, fully in a moment, without half your attention somewhere else. Where were you, and what were the conditions that made it possible?

Question 3

Who in your life most needs your presence, not your attendance at their events, not your performance in their situations, but your actual being-there with your full attention? How often do they get that?

Weekly Practice

Read one of these each morning this week. Before the phone.

Day 1 I looked at my calendar and asked what is actually mine.
Day 2 I noticed the difference between full and alive.
Day 3 I removed one thing that filled time but fed nothing.
Day 4 I stopped measuring my worth by how busy I am.
Day 5 I made room for something that does not produce.
Day 6 I let an hour be unscheduled on purpose.
Day 7 I am willing to be less busy and more alive.
