A Mirror

Read each question slowly. Sit with it before writing. These are not questions to answer quickly.

Question 1

Name something you feel remorse about that you have been treating as payment in full. You have felt bad about it for a long time. The feeling has not moved toward anything. What is the specific repair it is actually pointing toward?

Question 2

Where in your life are you visiting a gravesite of a relationship, a missed opportunity, or a broken commitment, rehearsing the apology rather than making the repair? What is the actual first step of the repair?

Question 3

Is there a person currently waiting for your presence who is receiving your guilt instead? Name them.

Weekly Practice

Read one of these each morning this week. Before the phone.

Day 1 I noticed where I mistake feeling bad for changing.
Day 2 I named a pattern I regret but keep repeating.
Day 3 I took one real step instead of more remorse.
Day 4 I stopped letting guilt stand in for change.
Day 5 I turned, even slightly, in a new direction.
Day 6 I let repentance be action, not just feeling.
Day 7 I am willing to change, not just regret.
